Allie has been a Floating Hospital for Children patient since she was six years old when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a cancer of the nerve tissue that is most often found in children. After 18 months of an intensive treatment regimen of chemotherapy, radiation, surgery to remove the tumor and multiple stem cell transplants, Allie’s cancer went into remission. Her cancer relapsed when she turned 11 and she received a high dose of chemotherapy for the next 3.5 years, putting her cancer into remission once again. At 16, her cancer relapsed for a second time and through aggressive treatment, Allie was able to beat neuroblastoma for the THIRD time.
In the summer of 2012, Allie was ready to attend college when she received the devastating news she had a new type of cancer: osteosarcoma, bone cancer, in her leg. Once again, Allie didn’t let this diagnosis get the best of her. She spent the last year fighting hard, enduring intensive chemotherapy as well as surgery to remove and replace the cancerous bone in her leg. This fall, Allie started her first year of college and is now cancer free. She’s excited to begin her studies and to dedicate her career to working with children.
Needless to say, her journey has not been easy. But ever since we met Allie back in 2012, we could tell that she had the strength to endure and conquer her challenges, and you–our donors, Team E2C members, and sponsors–helped bring her some joy along the way. Allie is a big New England Patriots fans but had never been to a game. So we sent her to what became the largest comeback win in New England Patriots history: the Nov. 24th Broncos vs. Patriots Sunday Night Football game in Foxboro–complete with a field pass!
