How Grayson’s New Bedroom Set Helps Him Beat Cancer

One of our inspiring Chicago Marathon team members from Texas has a 7-year-old boy named Grayson who began experiencing pain in his legs two years ago. The x-rays did not reveal any problems and Grayson was sent on his way, only to experience worsening pain that spread to his shoulder and neck. Within days this young boy was diagnosed with leukemia, had surgery for a portacath, had spinal taps and bone marrow aspirations, and began receiving chemo. This young boy was in a great deal of pain and sickness from the treatments that were helping to save his life.

Grayson is one tough dude and is fighting valiantly, but his cancer treatments left him often scared to sleep alone. His family recently moved to a new home and Grayson asked for a bunk bed with a desk underneath to make him feel like a big boy and where he can build LEGOs and Halo characters. He was craving those things that allow increasing independence and self-confidence while having fun.

I can’t tell you how excited we are that you guys want to make something so special happen for Grayson!

Grayson’s Small Miracle has given him (and his parents) many sweet dreams. We were able to provide him with a bunk bed and desk, sheet sets, a comforter, and a LEGO set. Grayson was ecstatic, and we are happy to report that he has slept in that bed every single night since it was assembled!

Grayson’s family told us this: “I can’t tell you how excited we are that you guys want to make something so special happen for Grayson! So thank you SO MUCH for offering to help! Everything Endure to Cure has done for him and us has been perfect. Gray LOVES them! He has slept in that bed proudly every night since getting it all put together. Watching him suffer through treatment and miss out on so many things normal kids his age were able to do was heartbreaking. There were so many amazing people that stepped forward to make him feel so special and now I want to do the same for kids like him. I hope I get to be a part of your wonderful team!”
