Survivorship Study: University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital
Endure to Cure Pediatric Cancer Foundation is in the process of raising funds towards a two-year survivorship study at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital. The purpose of this study is to hire a clinical psychologist who will research methods to reduce the long-term effects of treatment on pediatric cancer patients.
So why is this important? Many people do not realize that 60% of pediatric cancer patients suffer long term side effects, often times severe. Survivorship is a very underfunded and under-examined area of study. This study can have an immediate impact with patients the psychologist examines, and a long-term effect as more data can be used to put new post-survivorship treatment methods into place.
