Emily's New Bedroom!
Emily was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 2 (Optic Glioma). She was brave in her fight for a cure, and eventually won. But unfortunately, in May of 2012 at the age of 12 she was diagnosed with another form of cancer, Uterine Pecoma.
As if being diagnosed with cancer once, and then again–this time losing your reproductive system–is not devastating enough, her story of bravery and courage does not end there. Emily also comes from a household that does not have as much financial wherewithal as most. Her family could not afford to buy her bedroom furniture so they were looking for pediatric cancer foundation that might be able to help and found Endure to Cure.
Instead of letting Emily continue to sleep in her mother’s bedroom while she was not in the hospital undergoing difficult cancer treatments, our Nashville 1/2 Marathon team helped fulfill her dream and purchased her an entire bedroom set with the funds they raised!
Emily wanted to say “Thank You!” and also show off her new bedroom! Her family was also extremely grateful and wanted us to pass along this message to our team members and all those who supported their effort to make Emily’s Small Miracle a reality
We cannot thank your team and your donors enough for this wonderful gift. It means a lot to us and Emily is so excited to have some space she can call her own!
