Boston Marathon Bombing: Stay Boston Strong

We would like to offer our sincerest condolences to all those who were affected by the tragedy at Monday’s Boston Marathon. Those who lost their lives or were injured are in our thoughts and prayers.

While we are thankful to report that everyone affiliated with our cause who was in attendance–some who were at the finish line and witnessed the tragic events–is safe and accounted for, it remains a time of sadness for the City of Boston, for the running community, and for all those who were here to enjoy the crown jewel of endurance sports. A day intended to be one of joy and celebration of accomplishment quickly became a day in which running was of virtually no importance.

While the tragedy of the Boston Marathon will certainly define the 2013 race, perhaps the character and heart of the City of Boston will be defined by the civilian bystanders of the attack who ran toward the first blast to give aid to the victims, without any regard for their own safety.

Boston is strong, Boston is resilient, and Boston is one of our homes.  You can trust that we will not be giving up our freedoms or liberties to keep ourselves safe because of this.  We the people will overcome.

We will stay Boston Strong.
