Cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease in children under 20, yet pediatric cancer research is vastly and consistently underfunded. I’m reaching out to you with the hope that you will make a donation to support the important work of Endure to Cure. Endure to Cure’s mission is to raise funds for the research, treatment, and care of pediatric cancer patients. Any amount you can contribute will be greatly appreciated!

I joined Endure to Cure after attending an Endure to Cure fundraising event. A few years ago I watched one of my closest friends win his battle with cancer. As a freshman in college he struggled with what he believed was a lingering sports injury, only to be diagnosed with bone cancer over winter break. After going through an amputation and numerous rounds of chemotherapy he has been cancer free for over three years now. Not only has he made an amazing recovery, but he leads a wonderful and active life which includes an Olympic Campaign for the U.S. sailing team in the 2012 Olympics. His story is a great example of what is possible in life after cancer, and should inspire kids with cancer to never give up.

Unfortunately, not all survivors can be so lucky. While it is true that 80% of pediatric cancer patients will survive, what you probably don't hear is that over 60% of them will suffer from long term side effects, often times severe. By supporting my efforts, your contribution will go directly towards helping my fellow team members and me to fully-fund a two-year survivorship research study at the University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital. This study will help unveil new ways of reducing long-term side effects.

This winter, as part of my campaign for Endure to Cure, I climbed Mt. Macy and Mt. Washington, the state highpoints for NY and NH respectively. This October I will be running in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Training has already begun and will continue for the next thirty weeks leading up to the marathon. My goal is to raise $2,000 before the race. Please help me reach my goal by making a donation. Thank you!
