I am about to turn 40, so I am faced with the tricky choice of how to handle my mid-life crisis. Since the world really doesn't need another chubby middle aged guy in a Porsche I've decided to tackle a personal challenge instead, and I would like your support. This year I am participating in a number of endurance events, leading up to the grueling 250 km Marathon des Sables across the Sahara Desert in Morocco. Through Endure to Cure, a number of athletes and I are raising funds for the treatment and care of children suffering from cancer. More specifically, the funds I raise will help fund Small Miracles for children undergoing cancer treatment.
Why pediatric cancer and why "Endure to Cure"?
When my dad passed away from leukemia in 2011 my family and I experienced the tragedy of losing a loved one to cancer. In memory of my dad I want to support a group that helps people suffering from this terrible disease. The non-profit organization Endure to Cure does just that, and it provides hobby endurance athletes like me with a way to help children battle cancer. The endurance and strength of the human spirit in the battle against cancer is a powerful force, and in some ways the same spirit drives athletes to overcome the mental and physical obstacles of endurance races. Supporting a cause so close to my heart will certainly motivate me to finish these races, and I would like your help to raise money for this charity in the process.
All and any donations, feedback and support are much appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Henning
