Andrew Burroughs

I believe that my talents are a responsibility to be used to the highest capacity to improve the greater good of all and there my growth will be residual.

Assessing my past enables me to unveil the important lessons that have lead me to where I am today. I have found that through all my experiences that there are lessons in every interaction, every action, every challenge, every success and every failure. I have also learned that these lessons are meaningless if I do not apply them today and change and improve daily. I have developed a great appreciation for what I have been blessed, and I know that even through I have endured many hardships, I am very fortunate. As a runner, and as a human being, I believe my appreciation for life is not as meaningful if it is not used to make the lives of those around me better.

This brings me to where I am right here, right now. I recently joined Team Endure to Cure, a team of athletes helping the fight against pediatric cancer, because I want to use my experiences—my lessons learned – to test my perceived limitations while making a positive difference in the lives of the 12,500 children diagnosed with cancer each year. As a runner, I will be inspiring a child who is less fortunate that most other kids their age. This is my higher purpose.

My mission for 2010 is to complete a rather challenging group of events for the cause. My goal is to raise $5,000 by the time I am finished with a goal for each step of the way. The funds I raise will be used to fund research, provide treatment and care for children fighting cancer at hospitals around the globe.

But even through I am strong, my battle pales in comparison to these kids. 1 of every 5 kids diagnosed with cancer dies and I can only fulfill my mission to make this number closer to 0 with your strong support. I need your support and no contribution is too small. One brick may look insignificant by itself, but with many others it creates beautiful structures. The fight against cancer is no different. Please share this journey with me by making a donation and following my progress along the way!

If I never complete another Marathon but am able to bring awareness and raise money to help find a cure for Pediatric Cancer, improving the lives of others, then I will never have nothing to regret.

Thank you for you generous support.
